Maker : Philippe Weisbecker
Paris, France
I found a studio visit rabbit hole the other day. I don’t remember how I got there but the journey was incredible. I discovered the most amazing art and artist studio of Philippe Weisbecker. His solo show, Architectures, opened last week at the Paris gallery/bookshop Yvon Lambert. It runs through March 1, 2026. Sadly, I will miss the exhibition, but I have the bookshop and gallery high on my list to visit when we visit Paris in late April to celebrate my rather big birthday.

Anyone who knows me know I’m a sucker for drawings of buildings. I absolutely adore his work. But the best discovery … there are video tours of his Paris studio! Not one, but five! Bureau Kida, an artist agency in Paris published the tours on Youtube a few years ago. So, grab a cup of tea and a sketchbook and settle in for some amazing studio visits. The first video is the longest, a lovely 13 minute tour!
Now for the other shorter videos that are equally lovely. Next is a view of him working at his handmade work table.
Next on the tour, he shares little studio details and some more of his collected objects.
Onto his upstairs kitchen. A very clever design! It has a view onto the Paris streets. A lovely place to take a lunch break from the studio.
And finally, he shares some of the stools he has designed over the years. All simple and purely functional. They remind me of some basic wood cubes my father made in the 1970’s. He was a woodworker and also an architect. Come to think of it, he kind of resembles Weisbecker. Funny. My dad had also painted those cubes the same exact grey.
Hopefully this satisfies some of the studio visits I had hoped to have shared over the past year. I’ve been busy in my own studio and I’m still meeting people! Let me know what you think of Weisbecker’s studio and his work. And if you’re interested in seeing more of these little gems I find by accident or know of some yourself, let me know in the comments below. I know there’s one of Sheila Hicks doing the rounds on Instagram that’s not to be missed!
Yvon Lambert also sells some of Philippe Weisbecker’s books here and you can view the press release for the exhibition here. Enjoy!

What an incredible show. Thanks for sharing this. I love the artifact-like nature of some of the objects and the painted books/forms. You should treat yourself to one of the posters for your new studio!
